A patient with early T2D is at an increased risk of complication due to metabolic disturbances and interconnected risk factors. A large proportion of patients with T2D have CV disease. CV disease occurs early and is the leading cause of mortality in patients with T2D. CKD and HF are the most frequent first cardio-renal disease manifestations in people with T2D. Therefore, life expectancy is significantly reduced in T2DM patients, worse if they have CV or renal disease. In this eLearning materials, Professor Alexander Tan discussed relevant topics in T2D such as complications, CV benefits from different CVOTs and guidelines for patients with T2D.
